Never thought you would confess Never thought you would undress Never thought you'd carry me Never thought you'd bury me Never thought you'd recognize me Never thought you would despise me Never thought you'd realize You're causing all the scars Never thought you would, my friend Never thought you'd kill the end Never thought like medicine Never thought we'd pay to sin Never thought you'd recognize me Never thought you would despise me Never thought you'd realize You're causing all the scars The cause of all my scars Never thought you'd be with me Never thought you'd leave me be Never thought you'd love my ways Never thought you'd pass our days Never thought you'd go that far Never thought we'd love the scar Never thought you'd share this thought Never thought you'd sell the loft Never thought you'd recognize me Never thought you would despise me Never thought you'd realize You're causing all the scars The cause of all my scars Never thought you would confess Never thought you would undress Never thought you'd carry me Never thought you'd bury me

Dog gone mad But my room is tidy Face this bad Leave the world behind me Stay awake As The Lord decided He just likes all things divided Cat gone out Was the last instruction Tour this route In my wake destruction Between us: have I ever said I truly wanted this, I truly wanted this And as the lights go out I quickly mace the faces blind And while the night goes on I leave the traces they won't find And then I ask the tourist: "will there be another night Or will I die again?" But then perhaps in all this wicked blindness we provide It's just the mess we made Stay behind I'll do it single handed Stay behind I am the independent If they want to know In this struck for fame You'll know the details of my body Dog gone mad Strap it to my body Take the back Leave the pain in the lobby Between us: have I ever said I truly wanted this, I truly wanted this And as the lights go out I quickly mace the faces blind And while the night goes on I leave the traces they won't find And then I ask the tourist: "will there be another night Or will I die again?" And as the lights go out I quickly mace the faces blind And while the night goes on I leave the traces they won't find And then perhaps in all this wicked blindness we provide It's just a mess we made And as the lights go out I quickly mace the faces blind And while the night goes on I leave the traces they won't find But then I ask the tourist: "will there be another night Or will I die again?" Be My BFF 05:35
Well, would I have lit another damn candle If you said: "I would have been able To feel the need to explore it To feel the need to adore it" So I said: "Yeah! I'd love it again" (You bet I'd love you again) And I said: "I'd buy you a friend and try to be just everything" Well, would I have fought for This Fourth Dimension If you said: "Kid, give me the attention To stay ahead of the broken hearted To stay ahead of the faithfully departed" So I said: "Yeah! I'd love it again" (You bet I'd love you again) And I said: "I'd buy you a friend and try to be just everything" Well, could I have come straight out of Compton If you said: "Hey Kid, I leave the light on To make a mess of your adoration To make a mess of your explorations" So, yes, I said: "Hell! I'd love it again" (You bet I'd love you again) And I said: "Hey! I'd buy you a friend and try to be just everything" Just make sure you like me Just make sure you like me Just make sure you be my BFF Just make sure you like me Just make sure you like me Just make sure you be my BFF

And if I kill myself, will that make you happy? Or wear the lederhosen, will that make you happy? I could eat strychnine, will that make you happy? Though I give you the choice, I cannot make you happy If I just stay in bed, will that make you happy? If I'd just not be proud, will that make you happy? If I wear a body bag, will that make you happy? But I rain on your parade, it doesn't make you happy If I would stay indoors, will that make you happy? Not grieving on my loss, will that make you happy? To be one of the guys, will that make you happy? Though I give you everything, I cannot make you happy You truly love the hunt (She's Miss Teenage Dream And I'm hiding between her sheets) You truly love the hunt (She's Miss Teenage Dream And I'm hiding between her sheets) You truly love the hunt (She's Miss Teenage Dream And I'm hiding between her sheets) You truly love the hunt (I'm wearing this big pack) You truly love the hunt (She's Miss Teenage Dream And I'm hiding between her sheets) You truly love the hunt (She's Miss Teenage Dream And I'm hiding between her sheets) You truly love the hunt (She's Miss Teenage Dream And I'm hiding between her sheets) You truly love the hunt (I'm your Straight Agent) You truly love the hunt (She's Miss Teenage Dream And I'm hiding between her sheets) You truly love the hunt (She's Miss Teenage Dream And I'm hiding between her sheets) You truly love the hunt (She's Miss Teenage Dream And I'm hiding between her sheets) You truly love the hunt (I'm wearing this big pack) You truly love the hunt (She's Miss Teenage Dream And I'm hiding between her sheets) You truly love the hunt (She's Miss Teenage Dream And I'm hiding between her sheets) You truly love the hunt (She's Miss Teenage Dream And I'm hiding between her sheets) With your Kalashnikov (Girl, don't toss me while I'm in your head)

Heroin 06:53
I don’t know just where I'm going I'm gonna try for the kingdom if I can 'Cause it makes me feel like I'm a man When I put a spike into my vein And I'll tell ya, things aren't quite the same When I'm rushing on my run And I feel just like Jesus' son And I guess that I just don't know And I guess that I just don't know I have made the big decision I'm gonna try to nullify my life 'Cause when the blood begins to flow When it shoots up the dropper's neck When I'm closing in on death And you can't help me now, you guys And all you sweet girls with all your sweet talk You can all go take a walk And I guess that I just don't know And I guess that I just don't know I wish that I was born a thousand years ago I wish that I'd sail the darkened seas On a great big clipper ship Going from this land here to that In a sailor's suit and cap Away from the big city Where a man cannot be free Of all the evils of this town And of himself and those around Oh, and I guess that I just don't know No, and I guess that I just don't know Heroin, be the death of me Heroin, it's my wife and it's my life Because a main-line into my vein Leads to a center in my head And then I'm better off than dead Because when the smack begins to flow I really don’t care anymore About all the Jim-Jim's in this town And all the politicians making crazy sounds And everybody puttin' everybody else down And all the dead bodies pilled up in mounds 'Cause when the smack begins to flow Then I really don't care anymore Ah, when the heroin is in my blood And that blood is in my head Then thank God that I'm as good as dead And then thank your God that I'm not aware And thank God that I just don't care Oh, and I guess that I just don't know Oh, and I guess that I just don't know © Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC

A head full of droids Struck with no voice I gave you the choice Become a piece of their noise A head full of droids Stuck with no voice I gave you the choice Become a piece of their noise But the silence Bitterness Hopefulness Mania (Emptiness) Stamina (Thoughtfulness) Regret (This stewardess) Tiredness (She'll make a mess) Will take a general part A general part of your head full of droids Your head full of droids You're headful of droids It's not in your voice You slept in Detroit I said: "Try to avoid!" Headful of droids It's not in your voice You slept in Detroit That's a thing to avoid Like emptiness Thoughtfulness Stewardess made a mess I offered you bliss (Bitterness) While your head was so full (Hopefulness) (Mania, stamina) And it will take a general part (Regret, tiredness) A general part in your head full of droids Your head full of droids Head full of droids Your head full of droids (Your head full of droids) And I miss your voice

“Are your convictions so fragile that mine cannot stand in opposition to them? Is your God so illusory that the presence of my Devil reveals his insufficiency?”
― Marquis de Sade

After letter number forty seven from the public administrator landed on Jean Koning’s doormat, he knew it was time to sell up and move on. The last and hardest belonging to let go was his beloved 1970s Fender amp, which he very reluctantly sold to clear his tax arrears and gas bill. While rattling around the house on his own, the sense of loss, the feeling of being left all alone and material heartache inspired him to write and record his album From The Hermit's Bedroom.

A few months later, The Hermit was born and with it new incantations. At its core, the music remained both dark and ecstatic and continues to be reminiscent of such diverse influences as obscure literature, mathematics, drama, hikikomori and experimental theater. Koning channels a shadowy, minimalist psychedelica that unveils itself at its own pace through repetition and the resurrection of such classic themes as death, birth, rebirth, heartbreak, terrorism, social media, organized crime and identity theft. The part-time recluse sings the alternately narrative and mantra-like texts, pushing the music towards a shifting, droning, and heaving whole, allowing each instrument to speak with multiple voices and his voice to speak from the depths of multiple psyches.
