Is That All There Is?

by Jean Koning

Safety net malfunctioned We came to this fearless junction In the midst of an aerial illusion It was a well spread confusion High above the crowds I never once looked down Every night in another town And 40 feet above the ground You had it all worked out I blossomed a little too loud And in case it ever stands trial It was you who missed me by a mile High above the crowds I never once looked down Every night in another town And 40 feet above the ground I never once looked down

I remember when I was a little boy, our house caught on fire And I'll never forget the look on my father's face as he gathered me in his arms and raced through the burning building out onto the pavement And as I stood there, shivering, I watched my whole world go up in flames And when it was over I said to myself, is that all there is to a fire? Is that all there is? Is that all there is? If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep dancing Let's break out the booze and have a ball If that's all there is And when I was twelve years old, my daddy took me to the circus, the greatest show on earth Well, there were clowns and elephants and dancing bears And this beautiful lady in pink tights swinging high above our heads And as I sat there, watching, I had the feeling that something was missing I don't know what, but when it was all over I said to myself, is that all there is to a circus? Is that all there is, is that all there is? If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep dancing Let's break out the booze and have a ball If that's all there is And then I fell in love with the most wonderful girl in the world We took long walks down by the river or sat for hours, gazing dreamily into each other's eyes We were so very much in love And then one day she went away and I thought I'd die, but I didn't And when I didn't I said to myself, is that all there is to love? Is that all there is, is that all there is? If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep... I know what you must be saying to yourselves If that's the way he feels about it then why doesn't he just end it all? Oh, no, not me, I'm just not ready for that final disappointment Because I know, just as well as I am sitting here talking to you, that when that final moment comes and I'm breathing my last breath, I know what I'll be saying to myself... Is that all there is? If that's all there is my friends... © Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC, Warner/Chappell Music, Inc

Would? 03:23
Know me broken by my master Teach thee on child of love hereafter Into the flood again The same old trip it was back then So I made a big mistake Try to see it once my way Drifting body it's sole desertion Flying but not quite the notion Into the flood again The same old trip it was back then So I made a big mistake Just try to see it once my way Into the flood again The same old trip it was back then So I made a big mistake Try to see it once my way Am I wrong? Have I run too far to get home? Have I gone? Have I left you here alone? Well, am I wrong? And have I run too far to get home? Have I gone? Have I left you here alone? Well, if I would, could you? © Warner/Chappell Music, Inc
